The quick ones

Where in the world are you right now?
We have just arrived in Cuxhaven, Germany, after four days at sea.

Hometown?
Skovshoved, Copenhagen.

Your primary discipline?
I am a professional sailor and self-employed.

When you're not on an adventure?
When I'm not on the water (90% of my time), I love to swim, build things, and hike (a difficult hobby as a Dane...).

What drives you? Tell us about your journey and what ignited your passion for adventure.
Since I was seven years old, I have sailed every possible moment. All weekends and holidays were spent sailing. It is, without a doubt, the best excuse to travel and meet new people. The dream has always been to sail around the world. Lucky as I am, three years ago I met my girlfriend, Tandia (from Australia), whose dream happens to be the exact same. After 1.5 years of preparations, we have just sailed away from the quay in Copenhagen and into the big world.

Your most unforgettable moment in nature?
As a 14-year-old, my team and I went to Sydney to sail in the Yngling World Championships. On day four, on our way in from a beautiful day on the water, we were met by a wall of wind. The sky went from blue to grey in ten seconds, and the wind from 5 meters/second to 25 meters/second. The boat tipped over 90 degrees, and we had to step out onto the keel to try to save the boat from being completely swamped. We succeeded, and half an hour later it was sunny and calm again. Beautiful. The weather is like a metaphor for our emotions. In the moment, it can feel like everything is falling apart and the sun will never return. But if you give it enough time, the good weather always comes back. Always.

What is the next big adventure? What dream are you chasing?
The great adventure we are currently on is both concrete and completely unplanned. The only thing we know for sure is that we will sail from Denmark to Australia and that it will most likely take three years. We are sailing west across the Atlantic Ocean, through the Panama Canal, and across the Pacific Ocean, but what countries and people we meet along the way, time will tell. We sail wherever the wind blows.

Why are you and LOOW the perfect match?
Our adventure is characterized by changing weather. Both on a daily basis on the boat with warm days and cold night watches on the open sea, but also with activities like hiking in rainforests and on mountaintops. All of this requires the body to be well-insulated and able to breathe. We sweat a lot, and often, due to our activities, which is why LOOW is the perfect match, as the clothes take a long time to start smelling. However, the lovely quality also means that we can't keep our hands off the clothes in everyday life :)

Your indispensable piece of LOOW gear—and why?
Without a doubt, the Zip-Neck shirt is my go-to for everything. It is used on average four out of seven days of the week. It is perfect as a top layer when it's a bit cool in the evening and as a mid-layer when the rain is pressing down.

A personal mantra or philosophy you live by?
I intend to make mistakes, just never the same one twice.
